In the end it is useful to think about it this way; where would you rather see your corporate logo, in a trash bin, or on the arm of a potential client? Even better on the arm of a potential client who is walking around amongst other potential clients? For this reason choosing the right material for your promotional conference bag is hugely important; nearly as important as your actual logo or slogan design.
It is near impossible to go wrong with heavier materials like canvas or hemp for your promotional conference bags. These are both durable materials that will withstand the rigors of being towed around at conventions and trade shows.
More importantly, a bag made of actual cloth is seen as a usable commodity rather than a disposable commodity. Investing those few extra dollars in creating cloth promotional conference bags rather than plastic ones is sure to make all the difference in the world. Especially when your goal is to impress.
If cloth promotional conference bags are out of your price range then perhaps a heavy plastic bag would be more appropriate. These will definitely not have the longevity of a cloth bag, and more than likely will end up in a trash bin at the end of the conference however these are likely to at least make it to the end of the conference and be used to tote around everyone's promotional materials. As opposed to a fan and plastic promotional conference bag which will likely be tossed at the first possible opportunity.
Regardless of if you choose a heavy cloth or a heavy plastic the fact that you are passing out promotional conference bags at a trade show will make you stand out from the crowd. There are few swag items in the same price point category that will have the same impact. Of course passing a promotional iPods will generate more buzz, however realistically if your intended audience is more than a hundred or so people in this will most likely be out of your price range. Promotional conference bags are there to fill the void when an extravagant promotional gift just is not feasible. When you think about it they are much more practical than just handing out a brochure and your future clients are likely to remember this. Not to mention with a brochure only one person gets to see your logo, however with the promotional conference bag everyone who glances towards it will be exposed to your logo or slogan.
Choosing the right material for your promotional conference bag is a pretty important decision, but it is not the only important decision that you have to take into account. Other aspects such as logo design and slogan, as well as color choices will all come into play when determining the success rate of your promotional conference bag campaign.
